Housesnake Caresheet HERE

House Snakes Lamprophis fuliginousus originate from Africa, where they are frequently found near human dwellings.

They are a small slender snake growing from around 6-10 inches as a hatchling to around four feet as a mature adult. Males are smaller than the females. Housesnakes are prolific breeders laying several clutches of up to 7 eggs through out it's breeding season.

They are aggressive feeders, and care should be taken not to over feed them.

Hardy in captivity these snakes are sometimes described as Africa's answer to the North American Cornsnake.

Several different wild type colour phases are known. The most common being the brown phase. Other phases include olive, cinnamon, black & red.

Pattern phases include the striped phase which has two cream coloured stripes running the length of the body & the Lace Phase, which has an intricate white pattern all over the body.

Albino Housesnakes are relatively new to the hobby, hatchlings have the colours of peaches & cream. A beautiful lacey pattern covers the bodies of the specimens I have. As the snakes mature the colours intensify and take on a more rich cinnamon colour.
