First bred in the USA by Steve Osbourne, these are the Kings of hybrid Kingsnakes. There is no other snake that can produce such a wide range of colours and patterns from the same clutch.
Pastel Kings came aboutt by breeding a Variable Kingsnake to an Albino Ruthvens Kingsnake, variable is the key word here, as in the name, variable kingsnakes can be extremely different, for example, looking at last years hatchlings I had snakes that looked like Pueblan Milks, Sinaloan Milks, Greybanded Kings, as well as different morphs of Cornsnake. plus the different phases of Variable Kings.
Over many years the Variable King has been bred back into this hybrid till now, although it can never happen, we are almost as close to a 100% variable king.
So albinos can range from peach / orange to lemon yellow. Hets can also be just as pretty.
has a grey/cream background with numerous thin orange bands outlined in black. This is the phase we are currently working with, and which is pictured on this page.
has broad red/orange & black bands on a white/grey/cream background.
